I'm Tom from Manchester, England. I have attained a Masters Degree in Sport and Exercise Science (MSc) and hold a Premium Teaching English as a Foreign Language Certificate (TEFL). I have a lot of experience teaching English to English as a foreign language (EFL) students. I have taught both in a classroom and online. I am able to deliver lessons to a wide variety of ages and ability levels. The lesson will be professional and adapted to the needs and interests of the student. I have a patient teaching style which is engaging and enthusiastic. Although I create a relaxed teaching atmosphere, constructive criticism is given when the student feels stuck or needs help. The online classroom will be a comfortable place to learn. I find it extremely rewarding to see all EFL students develop and improve their confidence when speaking English. I look forward to working with all students and be involved in your English language journey.

Although accents and dialects vary throughout the UK, I feel that standard British English is very desirable for many. British vocabulary use differs from American English, along with pronunciation of many words. Many consider the British accent to sound intelligent and sophisticated. In my opinion the British accent promotes politeness and class. Humour is a big part of British English, with irony/ sarcasm making it different from American English.

As a nature lover, the most exciting event I have experienced is snorkelling with a huge group of manta rays (also known as devil rays) in Komodo National Park, Indonesia. These incredible black and white filter feeders spend their days gliding through the ocean eating plankton, krill and shrimp (they are very little danger to humans). Swimming in close proximity to these placid creatures was brilliant, although a little scary. With a giant wingspan of about 25 feet it feels like at any moment you could accidentally slip inside their humongous mouth. However, due to their agility and graciousness they effortlessly bypass the clumsy human and continue to go about their daily feeding regime without a care in the world. I would thoroughly recommend this experience to anyone who has a passion for nature, the ocean or just searching for a memorable experience
