Hello! My name is Josie and I am from England. I am TESOL certified, and I have experience working in schools in both Korea and England. I have worked in schools now for 4 years, and prior to this I studied as a nurse in the UK. This experience has also provided me with many relevant skills in teaching too! I am friendly, approachable and patient. As ultimately my goal is to enable students to feel confident and at ease speaking English! As a learner of Korean, I know how difficult learning a language can be, so I want to enable all students to feel comfortable. I have taught all different levels of proficiency to completely new in English to more advanced speakers, therefore I am confident and able to adapt to each students needs. I am passionate about teaching English, and would love to be apart of any students English journey!

The UK is very rich in dialects and accents as a result of thousands of years of history. With so many different accents and dialects I believe this makes learning even more fun! In the UK we have many unique expressions and words. I am from West Yorkshire (which is known for sounding like old English) and I love to hear how vastly different other accents sound in the UK. Overall, British English is rich, diverse and is respected worldwide, and is the home of the English language.
영국은 수천 년의 역사로 인해 다양한 사투리와 악센트로 풍부합니다. 이렇게 다양한 악센트와 사투리가 있어서 학습이 더욱 즐거워진다고 생각합니다! 영국에는 많은 독특한 표현과 단어가 있습니다. 저는 웨스트 요크셔 출신이며(오래된 영어처럼 들리는 것으로 알려져 있습니다), 영국 내 다른 악센트가 얼마나 크게 다른지 듣는 것을 즐깁니다. 전반적으로 영국 영어는 풍부하고 다양하며 전 세계에서 존경받으며, 영어 언어의 고향입니다.
Last year when I was working in the UK, I was working in one of the largest primary schools in West London as an EAL teaching assistant. I worked with a vast range of children, predominately refugee students. Many of these students had come from poor backgrounds, and had heartbreaking stories. It was an eye opening experience, as I worked with students who had never learnt any English. Therefore, we started at the very beginning by learning the alphabet, and how to write letters to begin to form words. It was amazing to see the development of these students. In such a short time, they had gone from completely new beginners to being able to express themselves in English confidently. This experience stuck with me as I felt proud to be apart of their development not only in English, but as they adapted and settled in the UK.
작년에 영국에서 일할 때, 저는 서부 런던의 대형 초등학교 중 하나에서 EAL(영어가 다른 언어) 교육 보조 교사로 일했습니다. 주로 난민 학생들과 함께 다양한 아이들과 일했습니다. 이들 많은 학생들은 가난한 환경에서 왔으며, 마음 아픈 이야기를 갖고 있었습니다. 이 경험은 나에게 눈을 떠주었습니다. 나는 한 번도 영어를 배운 적이 없는 학생들과 함께 일했기 때문에 우리는 알파벳을 배우고 단어를 형성하기 위해 글자를 쓰는 방법부터 시작했습니다. 이 학생들의 발전을 보는 것은 놀라웠습니다. 아주 짧은 시간 동안에도 이들은 완전한 초보자에서 영어로 자신을 확신 있게 표현할 수 있는 수준으로 성장했습니다. 이 경험은 나에게 영국에서 그들의 영어 능력뿐만 아니라 적응과 정착에 기여한 것에 자랑스러운 부분이었습니다.
