Hello, my name is Andrea de Wet, and I have been an English teacher for 4 years where I have taught in Korea. I am a certified TEFL/TESOL language instructor. I hold a master’s degree in human resource management in which my thesis was published internationally. I am also a qualified Pilates instructor and fitness trainer.
My passion is teaching, and this is what I do best. That is why I have decided to do online teaching. I have taught students of all ages, from kindergarten all the way to adults. I have also taught all levels, from beginners to advanced. I believe I am a born teacher and have so much to teach to my future students. I am a very patient and caring person. I believe each student should be treated as an individual and deserves to be taught in such a manner as well. There is no one size fits all, and I always adapt my lessons to each student individually.

I prefer British English because I think it is the purest form of English. The main difference between the two lies in the vocabulary, spelling, and pronunciation. For me, I think the British way of speaking sounds more eloquent, plus you have the added advantage of sounding like royalty. British English is also seen as more academic and proper, that’s why I believe it’s a superior to any other form, especially in the academic field.
When learning English I have found that watching English movies (especially the classical period, like Jane Austin’s book adaptations) also helps a lot. Reading books help with grammar, spelling, and vocabulary a lot too. And just for fun, you can play English games and sing English songs.When learning any new language, it is important to be patient with yourself, but you also must put in the hard work. You must immerse yourself in it.
저는 영국 영어를 선호합니다. 그것이 영어의 가장 순수한 형태라고 생각하기 때문입니다. 두 형태의 주요 차이점은 어휘, 철자 및 발음에 있습니다. 저에게는 영국식 말하는 방법이 더 우아하게 들리며, 왕실과 같은 소리를 낼 수 있는 장점이 있습니다. 영국 영어는 또한 보다 학문적이고 적절한 것으로 여겨지므로, 특히 학업 분야에서 다른 형태보다 우수하다고 생각합니다.
영어를 배울 때 영화를 보는 것이 도움이 되는 것 같습니다. (특히, 제인 오스틴의 책 채용과 같은 고전적인 시기의 것들) 책을 읽는 것은 문법, 철자 및 어휘에 많은 도움이 됩니다. 그리고 재미로 영어 게임을 하고 영어 노래를 부를 수도 있습니다. 새로운 언어를 배울 때는 자신에게 인내심을 가져야 하지만, 열심히 노력해야 합니다. 그 언어에 몰두해야 합니다.
One of my fondest memories are from when I was still teaching in Korea. It was my birthday and my students decided to surprise me. My boss had me wait in her office, pretending that I needed to help her with something, while the kids were preparing my classroom and decorating it. They ordered chicken for us to eat and baked a cake especially for me. Once everything was ready, they called me in, pretending that I was late. When I came to my class, I saw that the lights were off, so when I entered, they all yelled “surprise” and started singing an English song to me. They also brought out the cake with all the candles lit up. We had such a fun class that day, just having good conversation and playing games. I will always remember my students and that day so fondly.
제 가장 좋았던 기억 중 하나는 한국에서 가르치던 시절입니다. 제 생일이었고 학생들이 저를 놀라게 하기로 했습니다. 사장님께서는 제가 그녀를 도와야 한다고 가정하고 사무실에서 기다리도록 하셨는데, 그 동안 학생들은 제 교실을 준비하고 장식을 했습니다. 학생들은 우리가 먹을 치킨을 주문했고, 특별히 제게 케이크를 굽고 준비했습니다. 모든 것이 준비되고 나서, 학생들은 저를 불러 들였는데, 늦었다고 속이며. 제가 교실에 들어갔을 때, 불이 꺼져 있었고, 들어가자마자 모두 "놀랐어요"라고 외쳤고, 영어 노래를 불러 주었습니다. 그들은 또한 촛불이 켜진 케이크를 가져왔습니다. 그 날은 정말 즐거운 시간이었고, 좋은 대화를 나누고 게임을 하며 즐거운 수업을 했습니다. 저는 항상 제 학생들과 그 날을 매우 아끼게 될 것입니다.
